Hi there, I'm Miguel
I work as a project manager. I'm a parent and an expat based in Lisbon, Portugal.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Began
Moving to Portugal wasn’t part of the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much larger.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Daily tasks felt more challenging than expected.
The Adjustment Phase
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and lots of hands-on learning. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt secure.
Why I Created SoftGardenBreeze
The majority of online information was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Portugal.
What This Site Is For (And Isn't)
This site is NOT:
- An official tourism resource
- A paid-review platform
- A generic travel journal
This site ISN'T:
- A tourism authority resource
- Sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Our time in Portugal continues, and the learning journey goes on. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Miguel
